아시아ME회의(인도네시아-스마렝)

“밀 알 하나가 땅에 떨어져 죽음으로써 많은 결실을 맺는다.”

오늘 제가 여러분과 더불어 미사를 봉헌하게 되어 대단히 기쁘게 생각합니다. 저는 작년에 스리랑카 회의에 옵서버로 참석했었고, 이번엔 한국ME 대표팀의 일원으로 휴고&안젤라 부부와 함께 이곳에 왔고, 또한 우리 아시아 ME 회의를 취재하기 위해 평화신문의 전대식 기자가 옵서버로 참여하고 있습니다.

It is my pleasure to say a mass with you today. I have attended the meeting at Sri Lanka last year as an observer. This time I am attending as NET members of Korean ME with Hugo+Angela couple. Francisco & Rosa couple is attending as an observer couple. Francisco is a reporter of Pyung Hwa Catholic Weekly News.

먼저 저는 여기 계신 분들께 지난 7월 18일 아프가니스탄에서 의료봉사를 하던 한국의 분당지역 샘물교회 소속 봉사자들 23명(그 중 인솔자였던 배형규 목사는 7월 25일 피살되고, 두 번째 희생자로 심성민씨가 7월 31일 피살됨)이 탈레반 무장 세력에 의해 강제 납치되어 많은 고통을 당하고 있는데, 그들이 하루 속히 무사히 자유의 몸이 될 수 있도록 기도 드립니다. 그리고 이 세상에 폭력과 납치와 테러가 종식되고 평화와 사랑의 세상이 오도록 기도 드려 주시길 부탁 드립니다.

First of all, I would like to express my deepest sympathy for those twenty three medical volunteers from Protestant Church who were kidnapped by Taliban terrorists on 18^th of July in Afghanistan – Minister Bae Hyung Gyu, the leader of this volunteer group and MR. Shim Sang-Min, one of a volunteer were killed. I would like all of us to pray that they be freed from sufferings as soon as possible, and that this world be freed from terrors and mass destructions and may peace prevail on earth.

한국은 자유민주주의 국가로서 종교의 자유가 있고, 주요 종교들로는 불교, 개신교, 천주교, 유교, 그리고 민족종교들이 있습니다. 4,800만 인구 가운데, 불교는 대략 1000만의 신도들이 있으며, 개신교는 800만, 천주교는 500만 정도 헤아리고 있습니다. 한국 천주교는 그 교세로 볼 때 한국에서 3번째 종교이긴 하지만 그 영향력은 큽니다. 이것은 한국 천주교의 지도자들이 대사회적으로 정의구현운동과 환경보존운동, 그리고 생명문화운동을 통해 국민들을 계도하여 좋은 영향을 주고 있기 때문입니다.

Korea is a republic country which guarantees freedom of religion. The major religions consist of Buddhism, Protestantism, Catholicism, Confucianism and other Korean ethnic religions. Among the total of 49 million Korean populations, there are approximately 10 million Buddhists, 8 million Protestants and 5 million Catholics. Korean Catholic ranks the third in population-wide but has great influence to people in Korea. This is partly due to the fact that leaders of the church have been engaged publicly in social justice, environmental and life-cultural activities to help raise people’s awareness.

한국천주교인들은 우리나라 전체 인구의 12%에 해당합니다만, 2020년엔 20%가 될 수 있도록 선교활동을 활발히 하도록 권장되고 있습니다. 현재 한국교회가 벌이고 있는 주요 활동으로는 생명문화활동의 한 일환으로서 한마음 한 몸 운동, 장기이식운동, 자녀출산증가운동, 입양자녀갖기 운동, 사형제 폐지운동 등이 있고, 또한 환경보존운동과 자유와 평화증진을 위한 운동들도 다각도로 전개하고 있습니다.

Twelve percent of Korean population is Catholic and it has been projected to increase up to 20% by year 2020 by investing more effort on missionary work. Major public activities the church is currently focusing on are life-culture activities such as ‘One Mind and One Body Campaign’, ‘Organ Donation Campaign’, ‘Birth-rate Increase Campaign’, ‘Child Adoption Campaign’, and ‘Anti-Death Penalty Campaign’. Moreover, other public campaigns in environmental and social justice sectors have been promoted actively.

이러한 활동들이 과연 그리스도교적 열매를 맺기 위해서는 오늘 복음의 말씀처럼 “밀 알 하나가 땅에 떨어져 죽음으로써 많은 결실을 맺는 것”과 같은 이치로 자신을 헌신하고 봉헌함으로써 이룩될 수 있는 것임을 압니다. 그래서 그리스도인들은 타에 모범이 되는 삶을 삶으로써 이 세상에서 빛과 소금의 역할을 할 수 있을 것입니다. 특별히 우리 ME 가족들은 그러한 사랑과 봉사의 원동력이 바로 가정에서 나오며, 또한 가정의 주인공은 부부이기에 부부의 일치와 헌신과 사랑의 생활이 바로 우리 사회를 하느님 보시기에 아름다운 사회로 변화시킬 수 있다는 확신을 갖고 있습니다.

We all know that in order to make all these public efforts to become the fruits of Christ, we have to devote and sacrifice ourselves as shown in today’s Gospel “If a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it produces much fruit. “. It is clear to us that we can be the light and salt of this world by living the life of Christ ourselves. Especially, we, the ME families have a firm belief that the power of love and devotion stems from our own family and also believe that we can change the world beautiful by giving our life in unity and love.

한국의 ME가족들은 ME 첫 주말의 체험을 통해 하느님께서 나 자신을 소중하게 창조하셨음을 인식하고, 또한 자신에게 주어진 배우자는 하느님의 선물이며, 배우자와 함께 하느님의 축복을 상속받을 수 있고, 배우자와의 일치와 협력을 통해 세상을 변화시킬 수 있다는 신념을 갖고 있습니다. 그래서 ME 부부들은 이러한 신념으로 기쁘게 살아가며, ME부부들이 모이면 활력이 넘칩니다.

Korean ME families have a strong faith in their first ME Weekend experience that God created them precious, that their partner is a present from God, that they can inherit the blessings of God by their marriage and that they can change the world by true union and collaboration with their partner. Joyous and vibrant lifestyles within this faith are the major characteristic of Korean ME families.

한국ME는 금년 3월 11일에 30주년을 맞이했습니다. 이날 10여명의 ME 사제들과 전국에서 온 많은 팀부부들이 모인 가운데 서울대교구장이신 정진석(니콜라오) 추기경님의 집전으로 30주년기념 감사미사를 봉헌하였습니다. 정추기경님께서는 한국ME가 30년 동안 이 땅에 부부의 일치와 성화 그리고 가정의 복음화를 위해 애써주신 공로를 치하하고, 각 교구 대표부부들과 사제들에게 추기경 강복장을 수여하여, ME 운동에 헌신하는 분들에게 큰 격려와 힘이 되었습니다. 이 날 ME 가족들은 각 교구별로 할당하여 ‘성경쓰기’ 행사를 선포하였습니다. 한국ME는 또한 6월 8-10일에 마산교구에서 실시하는 116차 주말이 한국ME 전체 차수로 계산할 때 3000차 주말이 되어 이 기념비적인 경이로운 기록에 감사하는 미사와 환영식을 거행한 바 있습니다.

This year, on the 11^th of March was the 30^th anniversary of Korean ME on which with ten Fathers and a great number of team couples from all parts of Korea, the Archbishop of Seoul, Cardinal Chung Jin Suk (Nikolaus) held the commemorating Mass of the 30^th year of Korean ME. The Cardinal Chung acknowledged Korean ME of its endeavor in campaigning unity in couples, holiness in families, and spreading Good News to families. The representative couples and fathers from each Diocese were given a Cardinal Blessing Award to encourage their future performance. The “Bible Writing Campaign” was officially announced to each Diocese on this day. A special celebration and a memorial Mass was held in Masan Diocese on the 8^th-10^th of June - the day which was the 116^th Weekend in Masan Diocese - to congratulate the 3000^th of ME Weekend in Korea.

그리고 한국ME는 30주년의 해를 지내면서 이 밖에도 5월 15일에는 서울 프레스 센터에서 ‘언론인 간담회’를 개최하여 한국의 주요 일간지 기자들을 초청하여 ME를 홍보하였습니다. 또한 지난 6월 한 달 동안에는 매주 토요일마다 서울의 동성중·고등학교에서 학부모들을 대상으로 ‘참부모학교’를 개설하여 실시하였습니다. 남아 있는 큰 행사로는 10월 27일에 수원교구의 분당지역에 있는 성요한 성당에서 한국ME 30주년 기념 음악회를 계획하고 있는데, 이를 위해 CD 제작과 다채로운 프로그램들이 준비되고 있습니다. 그리고 한국 ME는 재정의 안정적 확보를 위해 ME 신용카드 개설을 준비하고 있기도 합니다.

In addition, on the 15^th of May, Korean ME hosted a “Press Conference” at the Seoul Press Centre which successfully raised public awareness by informing journalists of the major Newspapers in Korea about ME. In July last month, the “Good Parents School” was held on every Saturday at the Dong Sung Middle and High School targeting parents of the school. One of the major events left for this year is a 30^th Anniversary ME Concert on the 27^th of October in St John Catholic Church in Suwon Diocese and 30^th commemoration CD was prepared for distribution. A variety of events is also planned for this concert. We are also preparing a ME Credit Card System for financial support of Korean ME.

오늘 복음에서 예수님께서 ‘밀알 하나가 땅에 떨어져 죽으면 많은 열매를 맺는다.’고 하셨는데, 과연 이 말씀은 한국교회 ME 공동체에 주신 말씀이 아닌가 생각합니다. 한국의 ME부부 한 부부마다 ME의 가치관대로 ‘세상을 변화시킬 수 있다.’는 확신과 신념을 가지고 각자가 서 있는 위치에서, 그리고 각자가 할 수 있는 능력을 최대한 발휘하여 봉사와 헌신함으로써 각자가 ‘한 알의 밀알’처럼 희생함으로써 많은 열매를 맺은 것이라고 생각합니다. 이러한 은혜를 한국교회에 내려주신 하느님께 감사드립니다.

In today’s Bible, Jesus said “If a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it produces much fruit “and I think his word is alive in Korean ME. I believe that most of the outcomes of Korean ME are attributed to the fact that each couple has acted as a ‘wheat seed’; believing that they can change the world by doing their best in living out ME values. I want to thank God for endowing this gift to Korean ME community.

그리고 또한 오늘 복음의 말씀처럼, 우리에게 ‘참 생명과 진리와 길’을 가르쳐 주시는 예수님을 따르고 섬김으로써 우리는 참 생명을 얻고, 참 진리의 길을 걸어 하느님의 참 자녀가 됨으로써 하느님 아버지로부터 존중 받으며 은혜를 받는 삶을 살아 갈 수 있기를 바라며, 우리의 이러한 삶의 태도가 하느님 나라 건설에 한 몫을 할 수 있기를 바랍니다. 감사합니다.

Furthermore, I wish that we can all become genuine children of God by following the way of Jesus Christ who taught us True Life, Truth and Ways. I also hope that our way of life in doing so can contribute to build the kingdom of God. Thank you..
